You heard it here first: parasocial relationships are all the rage these days.
Audiences want to believe that the person on the other side of the screen is real and authentic. Whether you have a personal brand or a product based business, building that relationship with your followers is key to building brand loyalty through social media.
Engagement is a feedback loop. The more you talk to your followers, the more they will talk back. Here are four things to consider when trying to increase your engagement.
You aren’t boring, your content is.
Too often, business owners are posting content that takes too long to create and doesn’t resonate well with their target audience. You have to give them a reason to care about you. That begins with having content that people want to engage with. But what does that even mean?
Take a hard look in the mirror. Or the analytics.
First start by reevaluating the kinds of content you have been posting. Did the day in my life vlog you posted go viral, but your July deals post absolutely flop? Try to recreate some of the styles of content and reiterate topics that resonated best with your followers.
Hook n reel em in!
Most people don’t have a very long attention span. Your introductory hook needs to be quick and capture their attention so they don’t scroll away. Ask your followers questions in your captions and respond to comments.
Keep them coming back.
The more you engage with your followers, the more they will engage back. Responding to comments and asking questions to your followers will make them feel like you care about their needs. This helps build brand loyalty and community.
